Aborted job: I/O error while accessing local device

Post by AS-N00 »

Hello,

since two days the backup of my NAS (qnap TS-453A Firmware 4.3.6.0883) doesn't work for a job anymore.

There is an external Seagate Backup+ Hub BK attached, on which it should store.

A job then comes after a few minutes:

Code: Select all

"Number", "Type", "Date", "Time", "Users", "Source IP", "Computer name", "Content"
"17514", "Error", "2019-03-25", "07:31:11", "System", "127.0.0.1", "localhost","[Hybrid Backup Sync] Failed to complete Backup job: "Private". Aborted job: I/O error while accessing local device... Check logs for more information."
"17513", "Error", "2019-03-25", "07:31:09", "System", "127.0.0.1", "localhost","[Hybrid Backup Sync] Failed to complete Backup job: "Private". Aborted job: I/O error while accessing local device. Error code: -5"
"17512", "Information", "2019-03-25", "07:20:59", "System", "127.0.0.1", "localhost","[Hybrid Backup Sync] Started Backup job: "Private"."
"17511", "Information", "2019-03-25", "07:00:12", "System", "127.0.0.1", "localhost","[Hybrid Backup Sync] Finished Backup job: "Download"."
"17510", "Information", "2019-03-25", "07:00:03", "System", "127.0.0.1", "localhost","[Hybrid Backup Sync] Started Backup job: "Download"."
How and where could I start, why this suddenly doesn't work anymore?

Thanks for the help.

Ciao

QNAP has made some changes of late to their USB drivers to support the new TR-00x platform.

I would open a helpdesk ticket with QNAP about the issue. I/O error could also point to potential drive issues as well. One option would be to connect the USB drive to a PC and run Seagate's diagnostic tool on the drive to verify it is clean.

OK, thank you.
The file system on the Seagate drive is ext3 so I cannot connect it to a windows PC.
And I'm not sure if Seagate has a diagnostic tool for Linux, too?
Now I have renamed the folder with the I/O error, and it seems qnap creates it new, without error.
But I'm a bit afraid the Seagate has an issue.

the diagnostic tool does not care about the filesystem or data on the drive .. it checks the drive controller/surface

so go ahead and connect it to windows with diag tools

Nope, SeaTools doesn't find the USB drive. It is searching for hours now, without finding anything. :-(

OK, finaly I've found a tool. Try to check and repair the drive.
