itsmarcos wrote: Wed Aug 07, 2019 5:42 pm Upgraded and my RRTR jobs between two NASes (both on v3) fail. Getting the below error on the NAS initiating the connection:

Error 2019/08/07 12:07:06 System 127.0.0.1 Hybrid Backup Sync Job Status [Hybrid Backup Sync] Failed to complete Sync job: "BackupDaily". Bad port number or service is unavailable. Check connection settings. Error code: -111

Tried to edit the jobs and the file structure of the remote NAS cannot be retrieved.

Update: resolved by changing the hostname of the remote server to its IPv4 address. My network is dual stack IPv4 and IPv6 so hostnames resolved to an IPv4 and to multiple IPv6 addresses. This was not an issue with version 2.x of HB. Backups were even performed over IPv6.

As a side note, I am stunned that the application upgrade was pushed to production with severe bugs. Backing up is the most important function of a NAS. I would expect rigorous testing from the vendor.
are you running 4.4.1 Beta3 by any chance?

I stopped running betas quite some time now. Found them too buggy for my likes.

Most I can do is a release candidate (RC) but QNAP does only betas.

I have a QNAP TS-431 P and I access it through google chrome at Windows 10. Since I updated the Hybrid Backup Sync to the version HybridBackup 3.0.190802, I couldn't run the software anymore. When I run the app, it shows the start screen of the app with a pop up that says "Loading, Please Wait". I have already waited several hours and it didn't work. The software is freezed. I don't know what to do. I have already tried to update the QNAP Firmware and reboot it, but it didn't work as well. Anybody having the same problem? Could you help me please?

Remove/uninstall the HBS3 application

Either then reinstall HBS3 - the stick at loading error should then not happen.

HBS3 is still beta. That’s what support told me. So have downgraded back to HBS2

Re: HybridBackup 3.0.190802 BANDWIDTH ISSUE

Post by MCQ-UK »

Help...

I've configured a dropbox 2-Way Sync and applied a bandwidth policy.

Checking Firewall logs - I can see the bandwidth limit (40Mbps) is not enforced. Bursting to 200Mbps+ on a 100Mbps Fibre. This causes the connection to fail.

I have re-booted.
Re-configured the bandwidth limit.
Re-started QNAP. TVS-EC880 - All firmware/apps up to date.
HBS 3 is latest build.

Stopping and starting back-up you can see the FW bandwidth. (attached)

Many thanks.

Can anyone advise what happened to the SYNC option in HBS v3 where in v2 you could sync a remote server via CIFS to your QNAP?

That option is simply not available anymore in v3 as far as I can see, has this been deprecated?

EDIT.

Confirmed bug in the Wizard...it asks you the "Destination" folder when you create an Active Sync job...the text should read "Source" folder.

I have successfully created a new Active Sync job that "pulled" data from a Remote Server via SMB and stored it on my QNAP.

So the HBS3 webpage says the following:
Back up multiple versions even faster
HBS 3 supports multiple version backup to cloud storage and remote NAS and allows you to set the number of backup versions to retain and their retention time. The more versions you back up reduces the risk of data loss.
I for the life of me cannot see how this is done. There's no options for smart retention (i.e., seven daily backups, 52 weekly backups, 12 monthly backups, etc). All I can do is schedule these seperately but that still doesn't allow me to set the maximum amount of backups held (i.e., I don't want 100 daily backups, seven will do).

I did it yesterday fine...I backed up a folder from QNAP to Azure with either Smart or Simple Versioning...it is in the Backup options when you create your backup job. Down the left hand side you have three tabs you can click on to set your options.

Not showing on mine... i've done backups using OneDrive and GoogleDrive. Surely it can't be contingent on the cloud service...

Just to check, this is the section you're talking about?

All I have under schedule is to add a schedule, no schedule or run after a linked job. In the schedule I can choose daily/weekly/monthly or periodic. That's it. Would you mind posting a screenshot of yours so I can raise a ticket and show them the difference?

So this is the reply I got from my support ticket:
Thank you for your reply and sorry that I did not tell the result if the back destination is cloud server(space) , the task schedule setup will not have version management in it.
The version management will appear in schedule when the destination is NAS(local/remote)
The QNAP website for HBS3 clearly shows versioning is available for all cloud services, so either they've made false claims about their product or the gentelman from QNAP support is wrong. Either way, I'm pretty close to returning my device, I've been extremely unimpressed with the software.
