HBS3 - Creating FTP account broken

Post by lieszkol » Sat Sep 07, 2019 12:37 am

Created a support ticket to this end today but wanted to share my experiences in case someone else runs into the same issue.

The problem is easy to reproduce:

1. Open hybrid backup sync
2. Go to Storage Spaces
3. Click "Create"
4. Click "Remote FTP Server"
5. Enter all necessary information
6. Click "Test"
7. Test is successful
8. Click "Create"

9. QNAP warns: "Unable to connect to this storage space. Do you want to keep the configured storage space settings?"
10. If you click "Yes", the FTP storage space is created, but if you then try to set up a backup job for it, then it gives an error ("Encountered System Error") when you try to browse for a remote ftp folder.
If you then re-open the ftp storage space, you can see that your password was not saved correctly
Workaround is to re-enter your password after clicking "Test" and then save the FTP connection. Then it works.

I have a similar issue in that I had a NAS to Remote NAS set up. After upgrading to 4.41 FW the Exp Raids failed on both systems, I reverted back to FW 4.3.6 which appears to have resolved my expansion raids and the DataVol issues from the 4.4.1 FW.
However, the HB3 remote storage now cannot connect and it appears to be the exact same issue. regarding the password. It was a NAS to Remote NAS and it seems the password is not saved correctly.
Unfortunately, this workaround method for FTP does not appear to work for a Remote NAS connection.
