Difference between a One-way Sync and Back-Up

Post by OliverOliver »

Hello all,
can someone please explain me what is the difference in HBS 3 between "One-way Sync Job" and a "Back-Up Job"?

Both times the data is copied from my NAS to the cloud?
I can set One-way Sync to e.g. Hourly, then it does the same thing?

Background of the question is that the back-up job always aborts, but the synch job works.

Thank you.

i don't do the back-up job because of how it does it. it creates weird pathing which you can't change. this is why i use one way sync for doing my backups, because i can create the pathing i want.

either way it's creating a full copy of my stuff to another device, and that counts as a backup either way.

For restoring, i do a restore job (these are fine). I highly recommend you set the restore job to DISABLED when you are not using it. Just in case someone accidentally runs a restore job when not intended.

Thank you for your answers.
Okay, I don't really need the button to restore everything. That can also be done manually, right?

Does it make a difference if, for example, my NAS is infected by a virus and all data is encrypted? Wouldn't the data in the cloud be encrypted in the same way when synching?
