Re: HBS3 - RTRR server "encountered system error" after latest firmware update
Thanks God I could solve this issue.
Steps:
- I deleted HBS3 16.0.0419 from the backup destination NAS
- reinstalled HBS3 16.0.0419 on the backup destination NAS
- Started the RTTR Sever on the backup destination NAS
- Recreated all backup destinations on the backup destination NAS
- Recreated all backup jobs on the Source NAS (HBS 2.1.190909)
That was the solution. Time consuming, unnecessary. Still do not understand was wrong with the HBA 16.0.0419 update...

Hello robert.wagner,
thanks for detailing your steps. We got the same issue (source is writing to backup destination), and I have one question:
What do do mean by
Did you delete all your data and recreate all backups from scratch?

Dear atelier522,
I deleted all backup jobs on the NAS running HBS2.x. I deleted all backup destinations on the NAS running HBS3.x.
I did *not* delete the previous backup file data.
And the I recreated the backups from scratch. Source folders, destination folders, schedules and so on.
If you have further questions, pleas feel free to ask.
Kind regards
Robert

Re: HBS3 - RTRR server "encountered system error" after latest firmware update
Sorry for the epic delay in providing feedback on my original issue.
So I had set a meeting date with QNAP support to take a look. In preparation for remote support, I figured I'd run through everything again and ensure QNAP support had access. Two hours before the session, everything worked as if I never had the issue
To be sure it wasn't a fluke, I restarted everything .. still worked.
I know it doesn't help anyone who still has the issue but it seemed to have resolved itself somehow over time. I did not do any further troubleshooting meanwhile.... weird.

Re: HBS3 - RTRR server "encountered system error" after latest firmware update
Hi All !
I also met the same issue :
- 1 x TS-563, QTS 4.5.4.1723 Build 20210708
- 1 x TS-431-P3, same QTS version
- HBS 17.0.0512 at both side
HBS is setup from TS-563 to TS-431, using QDeDup, 7 versions kept
Once the password was set-up for RTRR to be the same as the management account, HBS starts to work (even if a previous backup did the job partially during sunday)
I openend a ticket with QNAP, will share with them about this topic & tip.
Thanks also for this information from KyuuET
