HBS3 - OneDrive - why is it reaching out to QNAP servers.,.

Post by Mathiau »

Hello,

I run a tight network and trying to add a OneDrive account to sync back down onto my QNAP for on-prem backup.

When going through the wizard, Storage Spaces / OneDrive, once i enter in the email and password, QNAP then goes to a grey square window with a spinning wheel and does nothing.

So checking my firewall, I see the QNAP keeps trying to reach out to the QNAP server IP ranges

With this blocked I can not proceed to add the OneDrive account and finish the backup Wizard.

My question is, why would the QNAP need to reach out QNAP networks after entering in my user /pass on my onedrive account? What information is being sent back to QNAP......

You would have to ask QNAP , my guess is a API authentication .. but only QNAP would know
