In preparation for my new QNAP NAS, I backup some files from a new drive to my backup drive on my PC.
During the copy, there were some errors from the backup drive and I wasn't able to write to the backup drive anymore.
After a computer reboot, my PC would not boot up.
I removed the backup drive from my PC and the PC was able to booted up fine.
I placed the backup drive in a docking station and it is not detected by Windows 10.
I tried a different disk in the docking station and Windows detected it fine.
I tried the backup drive on another PC and it was not detected.
The drive is not detected in Disk Manager and DISKPART list disk.
When I startup the docking station, the hard drive sounds normal but Windows can't detected.
Any suggestions on what I could try?
The docking station has an offline cloning function, should I try cloning the drive?
Thank you very much for your help.

The drive seems toasted.
If it is not detected by neither methods and different computers it is time to move on to a new drive.
As a last resort, give Linux a chance, but based on your comments it does not look good.

Thanks Gaudi for your response.
I haven't used Linux for many decades, would you have any instructions or links to recover the drive in Linux?
I plug the drive in and booted the PC, the drive DOES appear in the BIOS.
But Windows will hang with the spinning circle and not boot up.
Thanks

Re: Backup drive not detected in Disk Manager and DISKPART
I do not have instructions, using a Linux Machine or Live CD is what i would do in your case to check if the drive is readable, and using GParted to understand its structure.
If this is the only backup you have, do not mess with the drive as you may end causing more damage.
You may need to send it to a data recovery company.

Many drive makers have tools you can install on your PC to perform diagnostics on the drive.

Re: Backup drive not detected in Disk Manager and DISKPART
Sounds like a fairly recent drive. I'd contact your vendor or Seagate about a replacement.
