Amazon S3 - Authentication Failure (TS-509 Pro)
Hi Everyone,
I keep on receiving authentication failure errors when trying to set up an Amazon S3 remote replication Job. My QNAP Nas is a TS-509 Pro and the firmware I am running is 3.3.1 Build 0720T
Has anyone been able to get this going?
Does it require some portforwarding on my router?
Thanks in advance,
Marc

There's a "How to Use Amazon S3 with QNAP Turbo NAS" guide in my sig.

Was authentication working for you previously?
I originally had an issue with the name of bucket which I had created through the AWS portal but then no issue when the bucket was created through the Firefox S3browser which restricts the bucket name to lower case letters.

Yes it was but haven't used it in awhile. I just updated to the latest firmware, I no longer see the authentication failure message it does say replicating, but I dont see anything in the S3 browser in firefox. Tried hitting refresh to avoid any caching but doesn't seem to be the issue.

Re: Amazon S3 - Authentication Failure (TS-509 Pro)
I have a TS-639 Pro and after the latest firmware update my amazon s3 backups are all having the "authentication failure" message. Anyone have an update on this at all? The backups were working previously, but after the latest firmware they are all not working. I guess I'm going to open a trouble ticket with the Q-nap guys.

Re: Amazon S3 - Authentication Failure (TS-509 Pro)
I have just discovered a fix for the Authentication Fail message that I recently started getting.
I realised that the Qnap 219p+ was an hour out on it's clock. I had the device update it's clock from my PC, and then went to test the S3 connection and it worked again now that the Qnap had the right time. Maybe some check at Amazon that doesn't allow connection if times are too far out?
Now I just have to figure out why the Qnap didn't apply the daylight savings time change. Which is odd as the daylight savings settings clearly show the correct setting change has been registered by the device, it just didn't effect the change the the time of the Qnap.

That did the trick for me as well! Thanks a lot for the info, saved me hours of searching!John_Shaft wrote:I realised that the Qnap 219p+ was an hour out on it's clock. TS-412U, 4.0.2, automatic daylight saving switch = on
All scheduled backup stopped working on the first day after the daylight savings time switch. It always worked for the past couple of years; but then I had an old Firmware < 4.
@QNAP: Please fix this bug, it's most likely in Firmware ≥ 4.
