Slow speeds on Download Station HTTP

Post by Mrgold »

I have a TS251+ with everything up to date. I'm a very new NAS user.

My internet connection is around 980mb/s down and 60mb/s up.

I do not torrent and use direct links from fast servers.

I have done this test multiple times and I get the same results.
When I download a file through my computer I reach around 70-80MB/s while connected to my router in Cat 7.

When I use the exact same cable (I unplug it from my computer and plug it in the nas) I constantly get much slower speeds ( around 25-35 MB/s with my peak at 41MB/s. When transferring a file on my lan I peak around 140MB/s and the nas sees the connection as gigabit.

Have no idea what is going on.

Anyone have any ideas ?

Thanks

You internet connection should not come into play here (so no need to state it's speed)

We are talking about SMB mount speed here .. correct ?

How do you reach 140MB\s on 1GbE? (it has a theoretical limit of 125MB\s)

No I'm not talking about SMB (unless I'm confused on what that is but I believe it is HTTP)but direct downloads from various websites and services ( for example downloading a raspberry Pi OS or using premium download services like Rapid Gator etc)

This is why I wanted to be precise with my internet speeds because this is variable from one user to another.

It was around 140 but I redid it and I hit 138 . This was from copying a large file from my computer to the NAS and the number was shown as the maximum in Resource Monitor/System Resource/Network ( perhaps this is not accurate since the limit is 125MB/S)

ohh I see .. I haven't used download station in a long time ... I avoid most QNAP programs like the plague, for stuff like this I use jdownloader .. works great.. you could run it on the NAS in a docker container

https://hub.docker.com/r/jlesage/jdownloader-2

I should have mentioned that I have already tried Jdownloader2 ( but not in docker in the Qnapclub package) and the speed was actually a bit worst that Download Station. I 'll try it in docker and see how that goes.

I've also tried Pyload (in docker)and it was the same (20-30MB/s)

Once again I'm a novice in all this but it feels like something is holding back the DL speeds much higher up in the settings. Could it have anything to do with IP settings or something like that ?

between 25% and 50% and ram is around 25% out of the 8gb available

btw jdownloader in docker is the same as before ( around 15-20MB/s)

Yes I tried 9000 and it did not make a difference so I went back to 1500

Yeah me too ! It really ** knowing my connection is better than this and that it doesn't work.

Ok it's not bad, it's still some good speeds but not what I could do.

Thanks for the help and the time spent :D
