4.3.3 broke my downloads

Post by rosbif »

Hi,

I have used my TS-251 for a long time with no problems - I could download torrents using the download station or aMule without problems, then using Twonky I could watch those torrents via my PS4. Now I've upgraded to the latest firmware Twonky no longer works, and my download speeds are less than 30KB. What has happened? What do I need to change to get those speeds up again? Can I downgrade the firmware and go back to how it was?

Twonky was removed since QNAP wanted to plug their own DLNA Media player and probably saved on the Twonky volume licence. there has been numerous post in these forums about this. You either use a free DLNA player package, or like me pay for the twonky license ($20 or €20 i think for a "one off" 3 device license)

Latest version at time of posting is here: http://www.twonkyforum.com/downloads/8.4.1/ it is a trial version that will last 30 days. you then need to pay to use it.

As to your Download station, have you looked at the settings to see if these had changed from your previous version before you upgraded?

4.2.x (the older firmware is only 32bit) whereas 4.3.x is 64bit. you would need to remove all your packages, then "hope" you can do a downgrade without screwing up the firmware. If you want to do that just because of twonky and downloads, feel free to do so, but 4.2.x will not have any new features, packages will become unsupported and the only way forward is to move with the times and stay with 4.3.3 and fix your issues by submitting a ticket with QNAP.

Twonky will not be fixed by QNAP however. they are not supporting it any longer.
Regards Simon

Is the paid for version of twonky just the same as qnap used to have? Am happy to pay for something that works...

As for download station I haven't changed any settings with the new version. Everything in this version is left as it comes out of the box. Anything I should look at?

Does Twonky 8.3 Working with Qnap firmware 4.3.3 ??

Post by generozen »

Does Twonky 8.3 Working with Qnap firmware 4.3.3 as it currently does work with 4.3.2.

I installed this package on firmware 4.3.2 - TwonkyServerEU_8.3_x86_64.qpkg and it works fine.

Will I need to update the license to Twonly 8.4.2 if I update to firmware 4.3.3 from 4.3.2 ????
