Alternative to Download Station
Hi, I am experiencing serious problems with TS-251D in relation to force re check in order to download again some torrent files. The download station does not allow this action. Is there any alternative to Download Station in order to download and seed torrent files?

Re: Alternative to Download Station
there are qpkg torrent client downloaders on qnapclub.eu
OR, you can use container station to run docker apps instead.
transmission is one such app as an example, there are probly more.
to use vpn (e.g. mullvad) with torrent, you could either use the qvpn on the qnap qts, OR setup vpn to run on your router. The later being the better option, but the former is the simplest to use.

Re: Alternative to Download Station
test using torrent for any possible leaks, BEFORE actually using it for real
https://ipleak.net/
for qvpn it's possible to use it in different options. and other options that don't use qvpn.
option1: you make all internet traffic on the qnap route through the vpn. in qvpn there is a toggle where you set the gateway to use the vpn for the internet. you have to check this is set in settings
option2: only specific apps route using vpn, but everything else doesn't. download station can set to use qvpn. Not sure about transmission qpkg, but if the option isn't there in appcenter, then the only way is to use option1.
option3: this is using the docker app method. Some of these apps have vpn client integrated into the app and come bundled.
option4: setup the vpn on the router

Hi, is it possible instead using QVPN to perform port fowarding via my FRITZBOX 7490/router-modemMoogle Stiltzkin wrote: ↑Mon Mar 01, 2021 10:17 am test using torrent for any possible leaks, BEFORE actually using it for real

Re: Alternative to Download Station
here is a comparison of your fritzbox vs a pfsense router
https://www.reddit.com/r/PFSENSE/commen ... r_routers/
i am using pfsense on my own hardware. in my case a qotom which i got from china. pfsense is very secure even with default settings, and has many configurations including vpn support (including recently added wireguard support).
not familiar with your ISP, but some isps make it harder to use a different router separate from the one they provided you.
in my case, i was able to replace my isp router and use my own. however i had to add vlan tags which is a requirement for my isp. depending on your isp, your situation may be different from mine.
personally i torrent a lot, and i am keen on better security and frequent updates (especially security patches), so i opted for a pfsense router. it does everything

Re: Alternative to Download Station
Yes, the Fritzbox is fairly straight forward when it comes to port forwarding.
You may want to consider using the Remote-GUI for torrent management vs the web-ui, the only issue with the Remote GUI, is it bogs down once you have more than 4000 torrents added.
