Best way to accomplish my goal?

Post by austinyqm »

I am attempting to use my NAS for a few things.
  • I would like to use Sonarr to get torrent files.
  • I would like a torrent client to use those files to download the torrent.
  • I would like those files to use hardlinks so they can be moved and renamed via Plex.
  • I am not picky on which torrent software is used but there are a few that are banned.
  • I would also like calibre to run on the NAS and host a caliber book server.
  • I would also like a ComicRank instance/server to run on the Nas
  • I would like all of these (Plex, Sonarr, Torrent Client, Calibre, ComicRack) to be accessable via my local network.
  • I DO NOT want to expose any of this to the outside world.
I am also open to alternative to any of those software choices if better solutions exist. Is this all possible and how would I get about setting it up?

Sounds like you know what you want, you just need to install and configure it, as for which torrent client, you will need to pick one that Sonarr supports.

On the expectation that Plex will move and rename, that's not going to happen, you need to post process the download to rename it, Sonarr should be configured to watch the downloads and postprocess (rename/move), Plex should (if configured) automatically detect the new media when its been moved and scan and import it.

I was more wondering how to accomplish these things within QTS. I looked into ContainerStation but I couldn't figure out how to get to (as in access them) the apps hosted in the containers (besides via their terminal) or how to make everything work together.

ok well this is the first you've mentioned containerising the apps... you dont sound familiar with containerisation or setting up automation, so i would first suggest you get used to setting up and configuring your media automation buy just installing the apps via the app manager in QTS...

Once you're happy that its all working like that, you can then look to migrate from QTS apps to containerised apps.

Awesome. I figured out how to install a third-party repo and that has answer a lot of question. Is there anything I should do in advanced as far as setting up a folder / permissions?

Folder permissions for what?

Each app has its own configuration guide which you should follow.
