Very low download speed

Post by ikifikif »

Hi.
I have TS-431 (old) with two HD (Western Digital 6TB WD Red Pro NAS Internal Hard Drive - 7200 RPM Class, SATA 6 Gb/s, CMR, 256 MB Cache, 3.5" - WD6003FFBX) in mirow raid.
The maximum download speed of torrents is about 5MB/s, what looks me very low with my internet speed (500Mbps).
The NAS connected to a router Asus AC68 by cable.
Why the download so low ? HDs' speed limit ?
If it HD limit , maybe to add some small HD with high speed for temp files ? ....

Switch to a different torrent program then

Back when I used transmission on my 419p+ I could get 5-8MB/s (maxing out the little ARM processor)...so check what processing power is needed during downloads.

Transmission on my TS-231P pulls down at 20-30MB/s.

Check the CPU and other stats while downloading and see what else is running on your system. Also, check your connection speeds and the rest of your network hardware.

Also, try a public torrent, not a private one, such as a Raspberry Pi image or similar as well as see how well another device/system performs for downloading torrents.

I have only DownloadStation 5 in App Center. TS-431 is so old today, no any updates in App Center for it.
In Resource Monitor I see Download Station takes about 45% processor and total CPU load about 70% (User 30%, System 30%, Other 10%, IO Wait 10%).
Maximum torrent download speed 6MB/s.
My PC from the same router gets 450-500Mbps torrent download.

After it downloads 20M I get a message in transmission app "Error: No space left on device" and in QNAP GUI some interfaces crash.
Before I added some torrent I changed download and temp folder to "/Download" , but is looks like the torrent client tried to download it to system partition maybe ?
What I missed ?

Both of the websites quoted have more than one transmission qpkg, you can always experiment.

I have not used transmission on QNAP in a while or even have access to a x31 unit... sorry.
