Exactly THAT is not true! Please don't extrapolate from RapiudShare (I don't disagree - my RS donwloads don't start at all...) to all the Download Station functions globally.

Some minor flaws with default settings of early updated NAS and some specific forms of torrents (sharing same names and folders) for example, RSS driven torrent downloads are working, too; however, RSS driven direct downloads dodn't exist at all.

Although all former 3.4.x Versionen were faulty and had to be skipped, the torrent downloads on my TS-439 are working very well again since firmware 3.4.3 Build0520.

Not in my case. Download Station v2 is still useless.

I waited with upgrade to v3.4.x firmware till v.3.4.2 release beacause I assumed there maight be minor errors in first releases. I was right - after upgrade I found out that max speed of my torrents is down to some 20K from approx 1M in v3.3.9. I hoped v3.4.3 firmware would solve this problem but nothing has been improved. I have to downgrade to v3.3.9 like many others Qnap users did.

I do not understand why Qnap stopped supporting Download Station. I can understand that Surveillance Station has no support as Qnap wants to sell separate machines for IP camera management. But why download station? Qnap guys, are you going to start offerting separate "download devices" and try to force customers to buy another product?

I want to switch from my 2-bay NAS to 4-bay one but I do not think it will be your product. Sorry.

I concur. My fileserve.com downloads are still behaving weirdly. Finishing when they're not really finished, speed very slow.

This 20 kB/s limit is caused by an unlucky default value and an implied 1:10 rate. Have the port range configured in DSv2 correctly forwarded on your router?

Only fully direct http and ftp downloads are supported beyond RapidSahre. Fileserve URL are pointing to a Web page, expecting user interactivity that is not nicked in the Download Station v2.

Regardless if trying a "short" http://www.fileserve.com/file/JyPXcPg or a full http://www.fileserve.com/file/JyPXcPg/S ... ctions.pdf URL in DSv2 - all it downloads is a Web page html code...

Or in other words: Fileserve.com is not supported - same as before in DSv2.

Wrong. You didn't actually try to download anything as a premium user, did you?
In FW 3.3 downloading from fileserve premium worked fine, I've downloaded countless files at reasonable speed. In 3.4 fileserve premium works in regard to accessing premium content, though more often than not, the download gets corrupted, slows to a crawl or finishes before it is actually finished.

The ports are forwarded correctly.
I tried different settings on Download Station (tested on most popular torrents) and received strange results. When I increased "max upload rate", download speed started to grow. To some level I observed this 1:10 ratio but with higher values this relation started to deteriorate and above 30K (for upload) completely disappears (tested on extremely popular torrents so the speed limits are on my side).

OK, it is much better now but it is still slow (I cannot exceed download rate of 250 Kb/s and values above 200 Kb/s are not too frequent). Moreover, if I start two torrents in the same time, total download speed seems to be maintained (again this 200K-250K) - second torrent almost kills this first one (I have fast Internet connection so the problem is in software). I have not observed such issues in previous FWs (v3.3.9 and earlier).

Hello,

OK, the 3.4.3 is out and the new QGet 2.0.2 too.

HTTP download still same problem, not working.
On the attached screenshot you can see what fast speed it is downloading. The screenshot is made about 10mins after added the file to the queue. And the file is finished, with 0 size. Same problem since 3.4.0.
If sometime starts downloading the speed is under the 4kb/s

And here on second screenshot, it is better, here it really starts downloading on unbelievable speed about 4kb/s, after about 10mins, the file size changed from 120mb to 510kb and wrote "Finished".

Can barely read the screenshot - so it's not much of an advantage in this context. With some guessing, I suspect this is an OpenOffice download, so something like that one:

http://download.services.openoffice.org ... JRE_de.exe

However: This is not the direct download URL. From here we're redirected to a mirror site:

http://mirror.switch.ch/ftp/mirror/Open ... JRE_de.exe

Both URLs added to the DSv2 came down within about 5 minutes - 100%, complete, executeable.

The cumbersome part on this one might be that when a browser is following this link, there is another Web page shown instead of a direct download. Have not looked inside the exact communication on how the DSv2 does emulate a browser (to nick RapidShare.com?).

Fair enough - wget (once redirected) does it much faster - about 10..12 times  :

Hello Schumachu,

I think, that it is not so much important the url, like the download station is not function now. Before 3.4 the download station was absoulutely GREAT!!! Now I have returned to PC downloading, cause the download station is unusable.

If you really need some link here is one, and same as above posted!
4kb/s speed
http://releases.ubuntu.cz/11.04/ubuntu- ... p-i386.iso

TS-210

I am very desperate, cause I loved the Qnap nas, but now I hate it. Download station was really great and useful.

I am able to try for you everything, If you can find the problem or solve the problem. But I dont know how. As I said, after update it is unusable, without any change in anything.

I agree. Download Station is completely useless now.
I talked to QNAP Support, and they suggested that I downgrade to 3.3 :P Great solution.

Hello Schumachu,

I just tried your way, through putty SSL and imagine, that it works great, download speed 1,8MB/s eta 7 mins - THIS IS GREAT

So it seems the problem is somewhere else. Because If I use the web Download station or QGet there is speed about 4kb/s.

Before you ask, I tried if there is not only the counting problem, so I checked the filesize on the disk and really through SSL it download 1,8Mbyte/s and through qGet 4kbytes/s. How?? Why??

4kb/s speed http://releases.ubuntu.cz/11.04/ubuntu- ... p-i386.iso TS-210
Runs in here as of writing ~1.2 MB/s from 217.31.205.124 ... TS-212 v3.4.3 RAID1 - with ten more active BT tasks (limited to 5 MB/s) up at the same time. Ok, the TS-212 is a 1.2 GHz CPU vs. the TS-210. Can you inderstand, why I can harldy follow the "unuseable" argument?

Replaced the shell, typical libraries, hard-added library path(s) like LD_LIBRARY_PATH=... to the admin account, IPKG whatever tools and utilities substituted?
