Option3 would be nice .. but is wishful thinking

Option4 involves an investment that seems more than the 20 bucks required for a twonky license

AdamKH wrote:..., on the TS212 it installed well on 4.3.3 (again with the Websever issue) and indexed quickly. However it quickly became CPU and RAM intensive. This resulted in the TS212 not being visible to Windows 10 File Explorer and on some occasions not being able to map a network drive using QFinder Pro. This is exactly the same issue that I encountered with the QNAP Media Streaming add-on which is currently under investigation.

It is likely that there is an alternate issue with the TS212 which is causing problems on that device as in idle (with no packages and no access) runs at 18% CPU utilisation and 70% ram usage.

For the moment I have worked around by only using two Twonky installs (one with 50,000 tracks on the TS431, one with 39,000 tracks on the TS453A) I ran the small music repository (5,500 tracks) using Plex on my Synology DS416.

With the QNAP DNLA Server/Media Streaming Add-on I found inconsistency in reading the ID3 Tags resulting in splitting of albums, reordering track numbers and generating invalid genres.
What is TS-212 status? Did you solve all the problems (web, cpu usage, visibility in win10, ...)? What twonky package did you used (link)? Thanks.

Hi all

I have checked the posts, but am unable to find the package to suit TS-X39 and TS-X69 NAS

Any help will be greatly appreciated, as i prefer the TWONKY to the DNLA

Cheers

And more complaining, writing posts etc. One transaction of $20 and you don't have any issues after that ;) unless twonky goes out of business hahaha

QNAP did in the past had built in Twonky to its firmware releases, but since several months pasts they dropped Twonky and the Volume license (free to users)

Old firmware may contain the old twonky, but is severely vulnerable from exploits found in the firmware. I suggest using the latest available firmware, then download Twonky from Twonky's own website. this has a 30 day trial, then you must pay for the use of it. ($20 or €20)

the latest QPKG is 8.4.1 at time of writing.

Topic moved to Twonky forum.
How to install Twonky Server on a QNAP NAS?
Download the QPKG file for your NAS to your computer. Then you have to open the app center on you QNAP NAS and click the gear-wheel in the upper right corner. There you have to select the QPKG file that you just downloaded on your computer and click install.
The QPKG packages are available in the Twonkyforum's download section.

Ok found it. Go here Then download for x86, x64 qnap qpkg etc... whichever is for your particular unit.

Re: Twonky disappeared after fw upgrade

hi,
I finally updated my TS-212 to QTS 4.3.3.0262 firmware. And twonky (version 8.1.1.0) is still working. It is still present in app center, no update is available (only stop and remove). It is not removed from system as was announced by release notes.
- Twonky Server is no longer supported. Use the DLNA Media Server built into QTS as your DLNA server.
So, Iam confused. I have twonky running but in old version. Is it possible to update twonky manually?

Anybody faced the same situation?
W

PS: still not sure which Twonky build should I possibly use for manual install for TS-212.
Qnap arm-x09 package
Qnap arm-x19 package
Qnap arm-x31 package
Qnap arm-x41 package
Qnap x86 package
Qnap x86-64 package

EDIT: I am reading about other guys have problems with QTS4.3 + transmission... Transmission is working for me... QTS 4.3.3.0262 + Transmission v2.84-b24 ?!?

[New Feature]
- TwonkyMedia DLNA Server v8.3 is now a built-in feature for certain NAS models

strange considering 8.4.1 is the latest version:)

must say though at least QNAP are now fixing some needed issues!

skypx wrote:Hey Simon,

Did you upgrade to 4.3.3.0299 Build 20170901 yet?

I can confirm Twonky is on the TS-121 and TVS 463 firmwares.

TS-121 has Twonky Server 8.2.1 on it.

not trying the TVS-463 as this has my licensed version of Twonky on it.
