HS-251 streaming problems

Hi all,

I am new to the QNAP community. I have recently purchased a HS-251 to use as a NAS and media player. It's all set up but when I view videos it lags to the point of hanging. I have my TV connected to HS-251 via HDMI cable and playing videos that are stored in it.

I can play videos that are stored on my HS-251 through other media player (Beyonwiz), and these play ok.

Is there a setting or something I am missing?

QNAP HS-251 v4.3.3.0118
Video Station v5.1.0

When I play Video Station through laptop, it works with no lagging.

I've installed Kodi but cannot see it anywhere to run.

no i meant codecs of the files you want to play ( btw streaming would be non local playback .. so your thread title is off)

where did you install kodi from ?

You are correct. It's local playback Im trying to get working.

kodi was installed manually from http://qnapclub.eu/index.php#

It's getting worst now as I cannot see anything on TV when HDMI connected to HS-251

Hi I have the same problem, when using the HD Player and the TV attached through HDMI. I just opened a case with Qnap Tech Support and waiting for their answer. Meantime stevekats05, any luck on fixing this problem?

exactly the same problem on my HS251+ with HDMI

It was working properly, but suddenly (after an upgrade ?), I have lags on all of my videos, all codecs are impacted (MPEG,MKV, MP4...).

Any chance to get a fix ?

Can you please tell, if you remember, what firmware version you were running before? In my case I didn't test with the out of the box firmware, I went for the firmware upgrade (4.3.3) immediately and I noticed this annoying issue.

Guys, after I have opened a ticket with Tech Support, the final sollution was is to install a new version of HD Station. The download link can be found here http://download.qnap.com/QPKG/HDV3/Inte ... 170510.zip

I will try the solution with the HDStation, is there any easy way to always find the latest version, like the download link is nice, but how did you find it?
Also, I cannot get Kodi to work on 4.3.3 firmware on the HS251+, it just crashes after starting, I have tried all different versions, from father_mande and the qnapclub one, 17.x each version, 18 alpha - they just don't run - but maybe I need update HDStation and then try it, will do that now - but any help is appreciated!

Yes the problem is the HDStation version, updated and video playback is normal and Kodi works. Glad I found this post!

The HD Station update was not QTS desktop notifications, guiding to the Control Panel -> Applications -> HybridDesk Station, where updated of the HD Station itself as well as for the HD Station Apps come in?

Hi All, today i am upgrade the hs251 with the 4.33 firmware. After, all the movies are working bad! - Slow, lag, etc.

I am use KODI 14.2 but it is not works well.

I tried the Kodi 17.0 and Kodi 17.3 but these are not like the 4.33 firm - install is good, but when i try to start a movie, the Kodi log out automatically.

Now i cant use the Hs251. this is a codec error? - the Codex is installed...

Help please, if somebody fix the problem. Thanks.
