iTunes + Mac Catalina Update

Post by axgillette »

I recently updated to Catalina and have noticed that my NAS is not visible on the new itunes or music app.
I have tried figuring this out, but i am stumped.

Has anyone figured out how to get this working with the new music app so it will show up? I house my entire collection of music on my NAS and listened to it all the time. Now it's not available unless of course i use qnap music which i don't like to begin with.

Any thoughts and or ideas are welcome. TY!

you did not disclose what connection you are using to your nas

the itunes server (firefly)
smb
dlna
etc

no idea what methods itunes supports ..but the info would help potential helpers (I don't have apple stuff at home..so can't help)

Yeah - I'm also having issues with accessing music files from my TS-473 running QTS 4.4.1.1146. I've configured the iTunes (Firefly) server, and the Music app within Mac OS Catalina can see the server - but clearly there's something at odds with the file format Firefly is providing - Albums are listed, but minus metadata and images, and indeed tracks. When browsing by songs, these are all listed and metadata present, but won't play.

I understand that the Music app within OS X Catalina, which was spun off from iTunes, no longer uses XML files for compiling/accessing the music library, though I've no idea how it does it now. Google provides remarkably little information on the App and its ways of working - is there anyone here who has some insight? Firefly reports that i) it is serving xml-rpc method and ii) is Waiting for DB update.

Any advice gratefully received!
