[HELP] Newbie looking at a TS -453be for home storage and media streaming

Post by Psychobert »

Looking for a NAS solution which will allow audio output to a hifi system and HDMI to a smart tv and surround system. I think the device above will do this and I'll be able to set it up with something like Plex plus I can finally store all my non-multimedia files in a more secure format.

So, is there any audio/video software available on the QNAP devices which will allow me to direct the output to the amp for audio (through the audio out pluslg - what size jackmplug do I need for this BTW?) or TV for video via HDMI?

Obviously I'm not going to run both at once, but I do want to select where the audio goes. I guess I could just have the TV and cinema system (optical audio between the smart TV and cinema system) switched off when I'm not using video and vice versa, but that seems a little crude. I'm also nor sure if HDMI will carry an audio signal if the system detects a device plugged in to the audio output..

Any ideas?
