Streaming slower than online

Post by ddkirk »

TS-453Pro Firmware 4.4.1.1064

Please see screen cap - I have cat6 from 2 ports to a Netgear gigabyte switch > cat6 from the switch to a gigabyte router > cat6 to the rest of the house. Playback was atrocious before this on a single line, so I thought two lines with port trunking to a switch would help. Doesn't seem any better.

We tried to playback a recording (about 3GB) for family and it took about 15 seconds just to load the thumbnail, then stuttered at every fast forward. Tried a much smaller file (less than a GB), same issues.

We have Amazon and Netflix, both play without issues over wifi. Just a comparison to the horrible playback on this local box.

I contacted QNAP tech support a few months ago via e-mail, never heard back. So I'm here trying to get some feedback about what we might be doing wrong and how to fix this. Overall, really disappointed in this product for the only two reasons we have it.

Ok thanks for the tip, I'll pull the other cable.

We use PotPlayer on a Windows 10 machine.
