I am a bit confused about what all these apps are. Okay I am a dinosaur and really use my NASes for data storage.
There is:
Cayin mediasign
Media Streaming add on
Multimedia Console
Music Station
Photo Station
Video Station.
Why so many apps, or do they overlap or some only for client device use and some only for use when directly accessing the qts system?
Regards.
What do they all do?

Re: What do they all do?
if you use your NAS for data storage, kick all of these off your NAS (you dont need them)
if you use your NAS for media serving, kick all of these off your NAS as they are plain bad (use stuff like Plex or KODI for media)

Thanks Dolbyman,
About the only things I use are from the dvd player, I sometimes play family videos onto the TV and the media files are directly accessible over the lan from the NAS. I assumed it was using some sort of DLNA on the NAS but not at all sure.
Regards

Best to check if that DVD player supports plain SMB connections..then none of the DLNA stuff is needed

Re: What do they all do?
Never used it (more a Plex guy) but it does look similar.
I like Plex as most SmartTV Platforms have app support for it (The free version works fine with TV's, just for the smartphone apps you need to subscribe to PlexPass)

Re: What do they all do?
Fyi I ended up running a Jellyfin server. Seems to be fine apart from the woeful misidentification of home videos as films, and that the Jellyfin client could not play mts files on my ipad. Fortunately VLC will.
I look forward to testing it all over the vpn sometime.
Regards and thanks.
