Problems accessing Virtualisation Server via iOS
Hello,
I have a Qnap TS-251, running FW 4.3.3.0154 Build 20170413.
While i always used virtualisation server from my iPhone or iPad, after the last firmware update i get a strange error preventing me t o access the virtualisation server window and the console itself.
While accessing the Virtualisation Station 3 via Safari, I get an error ("Check secure connection") requesting me to add a QNAP NAS certificate to safe certificates in Safari. (Sorry if i don't copy here the exact wording as i use Safari in Italian). There's also a procedure to follow to do that, but apparently is for Safari on a desktop environment, not iOS.
So basically i cannot use Virtualisation Station via iOS Safari.
Can anyone reproduce that and help me sorting that out?
Thank,
Carlo

Re: Problems accessing Virtualisation Server via iOS
@dolbyman: Thanks, I am going to try that.
@Trexx: it actually works fine. That's a nice workaround for the moment, but I would prefer to use safari.

Re: Problems accessing Virtualisation Server via iOS
On a side note: also since last firmware upgrade i see the https connection to the NAS dashboard as not secure (both with Chrome or Safari, both mobile or PC) : why is that?
Thank you again.

No, should I purchase a certificate? Why should I do that as the connection was secure before the firmware upgrade?

Re: Problems accessing Virtualisation Server via iOS
the connection is still secure but cannot be verified due to the fact that the certificate was not issued by a trusted source
and on top of that if you go to your private IP address range or NAS name, nobody would give you a SSSL cert for that
example:
you could get a SSL cert for https://yournas.myqnapcloud.com or https://whateverdomain.com
But not for
https://192.168.10.10 or https://QNAPNAS (but all browsers should allow to add exceptions for those so they stop bugging you about it)

Re: Problems accessing Virtualisation Server via iOS
Just wanted to let people know, this will not work anymore.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

Re: Problems accessing Virtualisation Server via iOS
I tried to download and install SSL cert on iPad but it will not work. Use a VPN instead and avoid using SSL and it will work even on Safari (iPad).
