Qfile download failure

I have an issue with Qfile on my iPad in that it will download some files but not others. For the failures I get "Download failed. Please check the network connection". These are files that used to download fine (just code files containing text). I've checked the permissions on the files via ssh and the ones that work and the ones that don't appear to have the same user:group and permissions. This problem persists if I am accessing from a WAN connection or if I am on the LAN courtesy of openVPN. I have no problems listing files in any part of the file system accessible to the user. The problem files are not in any way large.

Does anyone have any idea what the issue could be?
