Do ISCSI Connections/Sessions drop when adding a second interface

Post by aarchibald »

Hello,

I have a QNAP TVS-EC24800U-SAS-RP device with several iSCSi connections running over one interface to serveral targets on the QNAP. I am adding a second interface and would like to assign a static IP Address to this interface without disrupting the other active interface and associated iSCSi sessions (Database related). I get the ambiguous message "Some services will be stopped temporarily. Are you sure you want to continue?". Will adding a static IP Address to the newly connected interface drop the iSCSi sessions on the existing interface? I have production traffic running on the primary interface that cannot be stopped.

Adam.

Yes, better to unmap the LUNs, add the NIC, then Map, so downtime safer.

Same goes for firmware updates/reboots, really risky with ISCSI.

Maybe a feature enhancement in the future firmware upgrades perhaps. I find it strange that an APIPA address can be assigned to the interface but changing that independent interface IP Address to static all interfaces must be turned down and refreshed. Bummer that isn't very adaptive :(.
