QNAP and VMWARE Lost Storage Path Redundancy

Post by p.gutierrez »

For some time now, possibly due to the latest major QNAP firmware update, I am having connection problems between the QNAP (TS-453U-RP -5.0.0.1986) and VMWARE (VMware ESXi, 6.7.0, 19195723 ).
From time to time, SNMP messages like this appear: Event: Lost Storage Path Redundancy (184639220)Summary: Lost path redundancy to storage device.
I have tried changing the switches, cables and also modified the network addresses thinking of a possible network problem, but the problem still continues. This leads to performance issues. Apparently the error occurs when QNAP has a lot of work.

VMware ESX 6.7? This is an rather old version. If you are suspecting an issue with the firmware, why you dont downgrade to previous used version to check this out?
Also multipathing is may be an issue. Do you use a virtual switch at NAS? These are often do strange things. If not needed, use a trunk instead.
