ISCSI Lun Error
Hi
As QNAP Support takes forever i thought i would post here to see if anyone has had the same issue.
I recently purchased a TS-831x its been running for a week really well. I added a disk to increase capacity, i went through the correct procedure. Once the sync had finished i increased my ISCSI LUN which worked fine. I then had another disk so i went through the same procedure but when i increased the disk i got an error.
I restarted the QNAP and now the LUN is showing as un-mapped with an error. i cannot map it and it has all of my data on.
Is there anyone who could help as QNAP dont offer an extra level of support. So i'm having to wait 24 hours each time they give me a response. I'm waiting for team viewer time from them but wondered if anyone else had any ideas?
I really cannot afford to loose my data!
Thanks in advanced.
Mat

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
Can you create another small LUN and map it?
Are you mapping it with the original target name?
This would prove if the service is working.

Hi
I literally just created a new "test" ISCSI volume of 50gb and that created and appeared in vmware.
I am not bothered so much about the iscsi lun if i can actually see the files in say winscp to copy down to a folder then upload to a new lun!
Can this be done as i cannot seem to find the folder that people reference too.

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
Delete the target and create it, then try remap again.
What actual error message did you get?
What size is the LUN?

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
Thats what i wanted to check. If i do the following it will only delete the lun not the data?
ISCSI Storage
Select Lun with Error
Actions
Delete
That only clears the target not the data its self?

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
NO, that will delete the LUN/data!
What kind of LUN is it?
Try copying back the last target config
iscsi.conf - Enables iSCSI
iscsi_trgt.conf - Target configuration description
iscsi_trgt.conf.last - Looks like backup of target configuration

The problem i have is i can only select (un-Map, Disable or Delete). When i have tried disabled or un-map they fail

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
Volume LUN or block LUN?
It sounds like the LUN is corrupt.
Did you disconnect it when trying to expand? You must not expand while connected to host.

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
ah sorry. block lun i believe.
i didn't disconnect as didn't know i had too. I thought it could be done on the fly! First time i did it i didn't have a problem.
so if LUN is corrupt can i see the data or should i just start rebuilding?

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
I would wait for Qnap, LUN recovery is complicated.

Link doesn't seem to work but ill wait for QNAP to respond.
I was hoping could find the .vmdk files and copy them off.

Out of interest can you backup the LUN, does that fail too?

Re: ISCSI Lun Error
as the lun is not mapped as such it does not show a lun to backup.
