Reclaim space after deleting LUN

Post by blondie1171 »

Hi
I am mere novice with QNAPs and I am looking to tidy up some QNAP's that I have inherited but am not sure how to get space back.
I had some LUNs on the QNAP which were offline (probably because the Windows server that the disk was available on isn't around anymore but it was never tidied up).
So, being the "learner driver" that I am, I assumed that if I went onto the QNAP and deleted them from the iSCSI target list that the disk space would come back to the QNAP? How wrong was I :-)

They then went to the Un-mapped iSCSI target list, so deleted it from there as well..... still didn't go back to the QNAP to increase the amount of available space.

What am I missing?

Thanks in advance

What model?
What kind of LUNs were they, inside volume or block?
If inside volume was the vol thin or thick? If thin you need to wait for reclaim to run.
Reclaim can be slow if hitting box with IO
