[DOCUMENTATION] Where is it?

Post by rory »

Can anyone point me to documentation on configuring iscsi and virtual disk targets? I'm trying to puzzle my way through it but it is not exactly intuitive. Anyone know of a how-to?

Hi rory,
have you checked out the Application Notes?

Virtual Disk: http://qnap.com/pro_application.asp?ap_id=214

iSCSI Target: http://qnap.com/pro_application.asp?ap_id=135

Basically, with iSCSI Target, you can create a chunk of space on your NAS HDD and assign it for your Mac or Windows PC to use it just like an internally attached disk drive. You can format it with any file system supported by your OS.
Virtual Disk is like a gateway (initiator) that links all other targets (from other NAS, for example) and add them to the internal space of your NAS.
