which hdmi cables does qnap support?

Postby newusernas » Sun Aug 13, 2017 12:56 am

I have some old generic hdmi cables lying around and I was only able to get one out of the three I had to work when connecting to my TV. There's no markings on the cable so I have no idea what kind of hdmi cable it is.

It is too short for long term use. I want to purchase a longer hdmi cable but I want to make sure it is supported by the TS-251A

All 3 hdmi cables work with other devices.

it is more the combination of nas and tv that could cause problems ... just buy a medium price range cable and try it

I use generic amazon brand and dollarstore cables ..They all work fine (some old dollarstore cables do not support arc..but I only need that berween sound system and tv anyways)

Start about here ... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/HDMI#Cables

The QNAP NAS don't make use of the Ethernet capability (a very niche feature with two pairs for Fast Ethernet only anyway), 4K60 is not common yet, and 48G is mostly for pro and high end.

Cable requirements depend on the NAS, the config, the display, the distance, ... common Category 1 should be fine.
