Info Recovery RAID array

Post by willemt »

Good Afternoon all
I have a questions i need answers too. If my Qnap breaks beyond repair and it host either a RAID 1 , 5 , 10 ARRAY - How would i get back the data stored on those drives ?
Would i need to insert it into another QNAP ? What's the process?
PS I know it cannot be read by a normal pc to recover data.

As always ..external backups(can be read in other systems) ..a RAID is not a backup!

Also..why post it here too?

it was removed that side i was in the incorrect forum.
And as my question asked - im not talking about the back ups for the Qnap im talking about the drives itself.
no need to be snarky too - as we are new to Qnap - sure you had all sorts of questions once

not snarky..backups are 100% needed at all times..we deal with lots of tears and anger because people assume a raid is a backup and have no plan for a defect or accidental/malicious deletion

external backups are the answer to your question

that part i understand perfectly. seeing that you have experience on this subject can the raid be placed in another same QNAP or is it like a server where you use the backup to restore on new device?

if the defect is only the nas, you can move the drives over..follow this guide
