RAM Upgrade Qnap TVS-H1688X

Post by AnimalMind »

Afternoon all,

I am looking to max out the RAM on my newly acquired Qnap TVS-H1688X. I see the RAM from QNAP but it is quite expensive. Does anyone know if RAM from Crucial, Corsair or Kingston would work? I am new to the higher end NAS machines so want to make sure I am purchasing something that will work. If you have any suggestions for 32GB modules I would greatly appreciate it.

I have the same unit and upgraded to 96GB by adding Kingston KSM32ED8/32ME. The unit came with Kingston KSM32ED8/16ME. Everything works fine.

Hi all,

So it is possible to add different memory size stick. A Qnap presales engineer tell me that it is not possible.
Thank you for sharing

There are four slots available, as long as you you have two identical pairs, you are OK.

I've been trying to use the Crucial MTA18ASF4G72AZ-3G2R (referred via the Crucial site: https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgr ... tvs-h1288x).

DDR4-3200MT/s • 32GB Module Capacity • 16Gb Die Density • ECC UDIMM • 2 Rank x 8 • PC4-25600 • CL=22 • Ext Timing 22-22-22 • 1.2V • ECC • Single

- Each 32GB stick boots fine if I put it in alone
- When I put in 2 x 32GB or 4 x 32GB, the system hangs on "Booting / Starting system" for a very long time--I gave up after half an hour.

When I put the original 2 x 16GB back in, it boots fine.

I run two KSM32ED8/16MR in conjunction with the 2X8GB that came with the NAS (48GB together), no problem (1288x)
