coverted Spare Disk to Data disk after replace disk one by one
hi all, thanks to my friends who answered my questions before.
I have a new problem
My QNAP nas have a spare disk with warning.
I replace that disk with "Replace Disk one by one" and then start Rebuilding automatically.
now that disk converted to Type "Data" and that raid group not have disk spare.
alse i try use "configure Disk Spare" but it is disabled for this raid group.
Thank you for your help

One by one replacement is for capacity expansion..not for defective disks...for defects, a simple hot pull and replace should be done

So what should I do?
Assuming the information on it is not important, is there a quick fix?
Of course, the configurations performed on the device (in QTS) are important

start the pool from scratch and restore from backups..always have backups of important data (a raid is not a backup!)

no It is important to re-pour the information on it
I do not need restore
The information on it now does not matter
I have information on it in another place
For now, I have to raise the device safely, even if there is no information on it

Re: coverted Spare Disk to Data disk after replace disk one by one
you can remove a pool
as long as one disk remains in the NAS, the system raids with all the config should stay intact, and wil be copied again upon reinsertion of new drives

Re: coverted Spare Disk to Data disk after replace disk one by one
First I replace all the damaged disks and then I remove pool?
Given that data loss is not important, does replacing damaged 9 and 12 disks solve the problem? I currently have 2 healthy and raw disks

Re: coverted Spare Disk to Data disk after replace disk one by one
Is this not possible without remove pool?
In other words, first replace all broken disks and then if it does not work remove the pool
And another question,Can Raid 6 be rebuilt with a maximum of several damaged disks?(In other words, I want to know
Can I replacement demaged disk -in raid group 2- with my two new disks? And after the device comes up and fixes the problem, I will buy a new disk and replace them)

Re: coverted Spare Disk to Data disk after replace disk one by one
as the pool is beyond repair(too many broken disks) you cannot replace the disks first, it will just throw errors
raid6 can only tolerate 2 busted disks

Re: coverted Spare Disk to Data disk after replace disk one by one
all disks (single or raid members) must be removed in gui and can then be added to a new raid group
