I have a QNAP 453D with two 4TB Western Digital Red Plus in RAID1.
I know 4TB hard drives have slightly less than 4TB usable space, but I am only seeing 1.98TB usable space.
I only have a single pool.
I'm using a Thick Volume.
How can I reclaim more of my 4TB hard drives?

Please post a screenshot of what you are seeing

dolbyman I just uploaded a screenshot of my Storage Pool breakdown.
I got the available space up to 2.7TB.
They are 4TB drives as mentioned.
I don't have many apps or anything installed yet, so I was expecting above at least 3TB of the 4TB total.

there is 1/4 used/reserved by snapshots, did you see that?

What is the recommended or safe amount to reserve for snapshots?
Knowing I have two 4TB WD Red Plus drives in RAID1?

depends on how much data you estimate to accidentaly change ..an external rasomware attack (not on the nas itself but via a client) would need minimum 50% reservation (for one full snapshot)

50% of the full 4TB? As in reserve 2TB for the snapshot?
That would be increasing its size from the current 1/4 currently reserved.

well, snapshots are not magic, if you have ransomware change 100% of you data, you need the same amount of snapshot space.
The question is if you want to use snapshots for this case or just rely on your external backups (don't forget those, neither snapshots nor raid are a replacement for backups)
I would say set the snapshot space up so you can at least restore 3 or 4 versions back (you don't have to protect all your data with snapshots)
