I recently purchased the QNAP QSW-1105-5T for the sole purpose of upgrading part of my home network to 2.5gig. The 2.5gig network is very basic. I have 1 windows machine with a 2.5gig Ethernet card in it, I have my mac with a 2.5gig connection and finally I have the QNAP TS-453D-8G which supports 2.5gig. I have all of the mentioned devices plugged into the QSW-1105-5T using cat5e cables. I also have an up-link cable to another switch which then goes to my router for internet access. When I copy a file from my windows pc to the NAS, I get around 78 mb/s. I'm expecting to see around 200+. I get similar results going from my MAC to the NAS. I am baffled by this. I tried unplugging the up-link cable as I was wondering if maybe the router was still involved. All devices can still talk to each other and I still get the same throughput.
See Lan Speed test.jpg for reference (pretty pathetic).
Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

cat5e? I think I might have spotted your problem. You might want to save up for some cat7's. I'm not sure but, I somehow doubt an 10/100/1000 cat5e is going to still cut it.

depending on the lenght cat5e should do 2.5GbE ... it all depends what the negotiated speed says
