QTS 5.0.1 and Nvidia Hardware Transcoding broken

Why do I upgrade and do this to myself

OK so I've put on QTS 5.0.1, Nvidia driver has upgraded and also a new Nvidia GPU driver. All looks good, card shows up in QTS and in Resource Monitor just fine.

However looking in /dev I only have nvidiactl and nvidia-uvm. I also should I believe have nvidia0 for my graphics card, maybe the 5.10 kernel though does this differently?

Plex however is no longer hardware transcoding, my containers aren't starting without nvidia0 though I could try removing that to see if that works but I suspect if Plex doesn't work, nothing else is going to. Card is set to be available to QTS as it was before.

Any ideas on how to get this to work again?

This is exactly the same problem I have encountered after the latest upgrade to the nvidia driver and QTS. No nvidia0 in /dev so my hardware transcoding won't work in my containers for Plex and Tdarr.

I've tried allocating my card to QTS and Container Station and it made no difference either way.

So I'm like you looking for help on how to fix the issue.

The same problem to me. No more PLEX with nvidia transcoding. I cannot able to see temp and video RAM status. It all show "0".

Well, 5.0.1 was essentially Alpha (although labeled Beta) until very recently and the bug / fix list list is quite long.

Glad to see you logged the issues, but going back to a more stable stream at least short term might be something to consider if you rely on the functionality.

QNAP does not visit the forum. It will be great for each user having issues to create a ticket so QNAP support can fix the problem.

The more tickets, the higher priority.

Totally agree and the more information the better so I included lots of screen shots and error messages so worth doing the same.

After I upgraded this new version, all the information like Temperature, Video RAM and Fan speed showed "0"
I downgraded back to old version Firmware QTS 5.0.1.2145 and Nvidia GPU driver 5.0.4.1.
Now, all back to normal.

After I upgraded this new version, all the information like Temperature, Video RAM and Fan speed showed "0"
I downgraded back to old version Firmware QTS 5.0.1.2145 and Nvidia GPU driver 5.0.4.1.
Now, all back to normal.

I tried that but it didn't work for me so I had to go a bit further and downgrade to QTS 4.5.4, Container Station and then the Nividia GPU driver and that worked for me.

I've opened a ticket too. Same issue there, no more hardware transcoding since QTS 5.0.1 (Plex container or Plex app, same issue)

just installed the new firmware QTS 5.0.1.2173 from today...

But the Nvidia issue is still there:

Can you indicate the path where you find such logs ?

I tried to reinstall previous Nvidia drivers, but still stuck on the issue (without any contact with Qnap support by the way).

just the dmesg command on a ssh terminal.

I am also checking the logfiles in /var/log more or less regularily - depending on existing issues...

And of course it is often enough not really understandable, but sometimes still
