Same error here, i checked that the FAN was actually spinning and disabled the audio alerts (was driving me nuts), looking forward for a fixing FW.

As noted here, contact QNAP support if you want this fixed

Known Issues

QTS may sometimes report abnormal fan speeds on the QM2 expansion card after a firmware update to QTS 5.0.1.2234. We will soon fix this issue in an upcoming release. Meanwhile, if you encounter this problem, you can contact QNAP Technical Support to implement a workaround.

Just installed this expansion card with 2 NVMe M2 SSD's, and since powering the NAS up I've had 10 occurrences as per alarms log within a duration of approx 75 mins. Haven't had one for about 45 mins now, I'm hoping it will stay like that. System information shows steady approx 1000 RPM speed and had never gone to zero even with the alarm present. Good to know it's just a bug not an actual fan failure. SSD temps are below 30c with zero load on them at the moment. Outside temp is around 20c.
I'm on QTS 5.0.1.2248

I'm having this issue on 5.0.1.2248 build 20221215 for my TS-453D and I see two new firmware updates on the download center here
https://www.qnap.com/en-us/download?mod ... y=firmware

- 5.0.1.2269 build 20230104
- 5.0.1.2277 build 20230112

Both of these mention a fix for this issue by my NAS isn't detecting there are any updates, is that normal?

Just update the firmware manually

Ok but why aren't these new versions being detected by the NAS after the QTS 5.0.1.2248 update?

Quite simple. When QNAP release new f/w it's available for manual install for a period of time before it's made available for automatic deployment

I've just updated the firmware to h5.0.1.2277 build 20230112, which is the most recent available on the download center, and started having this issue — "[Hardware Status] Fan 1 on "QM2 (PCIe4)" failed or was removed."

This was supposedly fixed in this firmware version right? Any thoughts on how to solve it?

Thanks!

The issue was it firing then resolving on and off and since upgrading I haven't seen the issue in weeks.
Is your's just firing without going away or cycling back and forth?
