I have a Qnap ts-879u-rp server and It will not boot into the operating system unless I remove 3 hdd's. It seems to me that the Western digital drives that I have in the unit is requiring more power than the power supply can deliver to the unit. Are there a way for me to reduce the start up power on the drives to prevent this problem? A way to delay the start up on the disk and not start them all when I push the power button?
The current on the drives on 12VDC are 0.55A (x 8disks ) = 4,4A

Re: Start current on the HDD
If you suspect a power supply issue, try booting using only one or the other power supply (unplug the other).one is probably the dominant and could be broken
