TS431P3 + 4x Toshiba MG08ACA16TE

Post by ITCHG »

Hi,

we have an TS431P3 with 4x Toshiba MG08ACA16TE FW 0102 running in Raid-5.
When building the Array it runs without problems for days. As soon as we send data to the NAS (backups) 2 of 4 disks where hot-removed (disconnected).
We changed already the TS431P3 and all disk. The results wehre the same. when we reseat the disks, they will be reconnected and the array ist going to rebuild.
As soon als you send Data the same problem happens, with ohter sector errors and may be other disks.
It is driving us crazy :-(
Has anybody ideas?

Thanks, greetings Harry

Hello,
I Have exactly the same problem, TS-832PXU with five MG08ACA16TE.
QNAP changed to new Hardware (RMA), same problem.
Also with an TS-832PX same problem.
Did you get a solution?

Sincerely
Roman

Hi Roman,

Having the same issue here. Do you know which firmware version the HDD's operate under or did you check before?

Greetings,

What we found out is, that there might be a problem with QNAP NAS that have an "Annapurna" CPU. We changed to QNAP with Intel CPU, it works fine now.

hi All,

Increase the smartfan temperature and make sure those drives stay below 40 degrees celcius.
The QNAP smartfan isn't so smart after all we learned after having multiple (14!) HDD disconnects over a longer period.
Now that we increased fanspeed the drives stay cooler and no more disconnects. Keeping our fingers crossed.
