WD Red 4Tb into TS 464

I need some advice. I’m moving from a Synology DS215j to the TS464. The HDD x2 in the Synology are WD red 4Tb. Are these HDDs compatible with the TS464?

As long as it's CMR and not SMR models (you did not disclose the model number) .. but all data from the disks will be gone of course

Yes .. sadly SMR models (the deception that WD pulled with these RAID incompatible drives) .. worst case they get kicked out during RAID rebuild (but that's a general issue and has nothing to do with QNAP)

Just checked the NAS - it says it’s a WD40EFRX-68WT0N0

EFRX are CMR disks ...those would be ok

What model is it now ?

Hi guys - sorry to hijack ... I am in a bind.

There's a special on the TS-464 and my 451 has the dreaded pin issue. I am looking to purchase a 464 however the compatibility list on QNAP doesn't list my WD60EFRX drives as being able to be used in the 464.

Is anyone able to confirm if they will work please??

Did you end up confirming what drives you had and are they working in the 464?

Those are regular 6TB WD RED plus..they will work

Okay thanks Dolbyman - fingers crossed - QNAP support aren't much help other than saying "it should no any problem when you use this WD60EFRX HDD in the TS-464 NAS device."
