Migrating Raid 5 from TS451 to TVS-h474

Post by rjtt64 »

Hi

Can I ask?

I have a TS451
Raid 5: 4 * 6 tb ironwolf with 1 hot swappable 6tb disk

and want to migrate to a TVS-h474

I am assuming that I can just turn off both machines and place all the disks in the same order from the TS 451 to the h474, and then assuming that they share the same OS that this will be ok

If anyone could confirm as if this went wrong, it would be painful!!

Many thanks

Referring to Migration this works.
Important: do not add any additional media in TVS NAS! Only the 4 disk from TS-451!

More important: do at least one backup in advance!
The OS will remain the same, the OS is at the disks!

Regards

makes me believing, there is no backup at all! Thats a big, big mistake!
Backups are mandatory all the time!

Many thanks for this @FSC830.

Sorry I was slightly unclear, I only have 4 disks in the TS451, 3 in the raid, 1 hotswappable.

I do have 2 back ups of critical user data, the rest is media, that could be downloaded again, but would be really unpleasant to do again

Best Wishes

3 raid and 1 spare you mean? Hotswapping is a hardware feature of the NAS (and used interface)..has nothing to do with the RAID level
