LSI Logic 9271 SAS controller in TS-877XU-RP

Have any of you tried to install, connect and run and is it possible to use a SAS controller card, e.g. LSI Logic 9271 (Linux megaraid driver) in QNAP TS-877XU-RP instead of native onboard SATA? What does the backplane for connecting disks look like there? Is it possible to use the SFF-8087 cable instead of these connected from the motherboard?

The backplane is fixed..there is no way to switch the controller..no support for it in QTS so all around a pretty poor idea..(and why exactly?)

I have a dozen SAS 4TB drives lying on the shelf. They were once bought at a bargain price for a spare array for Windows Server. I just want to make use of them. I know from experience that LSI array with BBU or CacheVault, e.g. RAID 5 or RADI6, works better and faster than software RAID. Even maybe faster than ZFS array. I was wondering if the QNAP disk backplane can be disconnected from the board and connected to a SAS controller. Why do you think it is a bad idea? Just because of no support of such solution from the QNAP manufacturer?
