I have a TS-451 with the latest firmware (4.1.4) and have been trying to use a Vantec H4XR external enclosure as a backup target using Backup Station. This enclosure is based on the JMicron chipset. I have the enclosure set to have each drive as a separate drive (no RAID, no JBOD). When I plug it into the rear USB 3.0 port sometimes it appears but the drives show as being of a format unknown or it doesn't appear at all. If I plug it into the front USB 3.0 port the drives appear OK (correct format - EXT4/NTFS etc), but then when I setup Backup Station to backup to the drives it runs for awhile and then fails saying that the storage device is not available.
Anyone got any ideas?
