integrating QNAP with CINDER

Post by admin0 »

Hi All,

If this is not the right forum for this question, please feel free to move this to the right forum.

What we have now is TDS-16489U , which we are trying to integrate with Openstack.
Openstack is installed using OSA ( https://github.com/openstack/openstack-ansible )

If I look into the driver:

https://raw.githubusercontent.com/opens ... rs/qnap.py

it needs this
required_config = ['qnap_management_url',
'san_login',
'san_password',
'qnap_poolname',
'qnap_storage_protocol']

The way to configure CINDER is listed in this page:
https://docs.openstack.org/developer/op ... os_cinder/ but it does not have QNAP specific values.

If someone can guide me on what values to provide to cinder, or give a basic configuration, that would help.

Thanks,
Shashi

Use QNAP NAS for your OpenStack storage

The QNAP Cinder driver (which is fully integrated in Platform9) allows QNAP NAS integration in OpenStack environments. It can be added to the Cinder Node and allows block devices creation on QNAP NAS. After enabling the QNAP Cinder driver on an OpenStack Cinder Node, the Compute Node can utilize the space on QNAP’s Enterprise ZFS NAS (an enterprise-grade storage providing active-active High Availability, snapshots, data deduplication and compression) as well as on QNAP’s business-class NAS series for affordable storage solutions.

i did a brief check but did not see a tutorial. You may need to create a support ticket ideally via QTS since it's faster. or from the website, and ask support to direct you to the relevant guide.

if you want to expedite you could also try calling up technical support as well. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to help out enterprise users asap

while your about it, you may want to suggest to them to update their guide to include for this
