In case you will be making Raid1 for your 2 Bay TS-219, I think it is recommended to use corresponding hard disks. However, I think it is not always a must though.

I am not 100% sure about this, but if NOT using corresponding hard drives in an array, I think it will cause performance issue, and probably you won't be able to utilize the full capacity of your disks. I do have corresponding disks in my TS-451 and TS-653A, but I also have NVR that I made Raid1 and Raid5 with mixed up disks from WD and Seagate. I think it will work as your demand but I will a bit worry on the disks life though (in my NVR I simply put all of my old hard disks in it and made them in Raid1 and Raid5, which I really don't mind if any of those disks fails).

Hopefully I'm helping!

I checked the list, TS-219P II should be able to accept even up to 10T disks. For TS-219P II, the maximum capacity for a single volume is 16T.

In case of markoko is not doing Raid0 he should be fine I think.

on compatibility list the

wolf 8tb is listed
TS-219P II
Seagate ST8000VN0022
As suggested by certain hard disk drive providers, the hard disk drives of the same brand and series are collectively recognized as compatible with QNAP products if the largest-capacity drive has passed the compatibility test.

Qnap don't sell NASes with disks included. Some resellers do but that's unfortunately not any proof the disks are compatible. There are plenty of incompetent resellers out there. Anyway the disk you mention is listed as compatible in your NAS model so that shouldn't be an issue.

I believe however that your question was actually about the disk trays and yes, you do need new trays for that NAS model as explained here.

I have just bought 2x SEAGATE ST8000VN0022 Iron Wolf 8TB HDD...

1st drive is almost done with rebuilding... so far there are no problems.
Unfortunately I missed the info re trays...
https://www.qnap.com/en-us/compatibilit ... category=1 does not show information you shared...?

.. this is why I tightened disc with 2 screws only...

Yes unfortunately the Qnap disk compatibility list is far from perfect, but it's what we have.

With that list as a starting point and then double-checking in the forum, most disk recommendations can be solved.
