Use another NAS as an expansion unit?

Post by bruce_miranda »

I have an old Synology NAS DS412+. But my current NAS is a TVS-471. Currently all my 4 slots on the NAS are full. Is it possible to have some custom firmware on the Synology to reconfigure it as an expansion unit for the QNAP, rather than running two separate NAS units?
NAS : TVS-471
CPU : i7-4790T
RAM : 16GB
HDD : 2 x 10TB + 1 x 6TB + 1 x 4TB
SSD : 2 x 500GB (used for SSD Cache)
