Migration

Post by rudnicke »

I need some clarification. I'm not too smart when it comes to moving a Qnap to a new unit.

Can I move a TS-469L to a TS-653B? THey are both Intel, but I'm not sure I'm reading the migration chart correctly.

is the 469L on storage pools ?

If not, start from scratch otherwise you will miss out on features with the legacy volume

nas to nas migration is dependent on meeting certain criteria, which i recommend reading the NAS manual under the title header "migration" ctrl+f for quick find search.

https://www.qnap.com/en-us/support/con_show.php?cid=11

that said i would also recommend just start from scratch rather than migration process like the others are suggesting.

Make sure your data is backed up elsewhere, so when you insert hdds into new nas they get formated (everything on the inserted hdd is erased). When initialization is completed and raid is rebuilt, you can then copy your data back onto the new NAS.

my faq link has a small mention for the storage pools.
