UPS and Backup technology recommendations please

Post by Missing_Link »

Hi,

I am new to the QNAP products and I'm looking for suggestions please (config in the message signature)

1. A UPS
It will be used for this device only, and ideally a small tower form factor would be best. I just want to be able to have the device shut down cleanly if there is a power failure.
I have checked the compatibility list but it seems largely US-centric, which is a problem for me as I live in Germany.
I bought my NAS from the UK and I plan to use a power socket converter with any UPS I buy in Germany (as UK-European sockets are different).

2. A backup solution
Pretty open to any options here really.

Thanks in advance!

I used APC know fo reliability... make sure you check the specs of the your NAS in power consumption . APC UPS usually displays both VA or watts . your NAS and anything else added should be less than 40% of the load of the UPS capability in order to give enough time in power outage. hope that helps

Don't use an adapter for your UK powerbrick, just change the lead to a EU one (Kaltgerätestecker)

Hi,

I am just looking to protect the NAS (96W AC) - and have it shut down cleanly when the power goes out. Can anyone recommend something I could actually buy please that would cover this requirement ??!.
I'm really struggling to find a simple solution here... also for a backup recommendation.

Any help would be greatly appreciated - thanks :-)
