reading the contents without a QNAP will be a hard task .. you should have done external backups

yes, this is the same issue.
really seems to be very unreliable hardware.
Unfortunately I only have one backup from the first qnap. Data is current but has a different structure.
maybe I will find a Live-Cd from qnap to read the HDD's
As far as I know, uses qnap the ext4 format

modern QAP use LVM on top of the mdadm (if there is a raid) ..that makes it MUCH harder to get to your data

yes, does not look good.
So I'll reclaim the TS-288 (is the easiest way) and buy me a synology as soon as possible. the synology never made any problems.

Yesterday, my QNAP TS-228A also stopped turning on. Worked only one month.
Maybe this is a problem in the firmware? The power supply is working. The fan tries to spin and immediately stops.

seems to be a serious hardware error
yesterday they replaced my NAS with a new one. I had to do this, because this was the only way to get my data back.
I am not happy with the 228A. Next time it stops working, i get the money back and buy a synology.
A daily backup is now on my ToDo-List :-)

The problem is that my supplier does not currently have a TS-228a. The nearest service center is 9000 km away. I will give us a supplier, let him solve this problem.

I have the same problem with the TS-228A, No power and the power supply is still working fine. After working for 1,4 years it suddenly stops, the replacement was also broken in less then 3 weeks. Whats going on?

It's my second TS-228A unit that fails in 3 months, very annoying. Seeing that first message of this thread is 1 year old, I wonder why QNAP does not fix what seems to be a design issue.

My TS-228A just died as well. 16 months old. Off to buy a new unit, transfer the disks over and hope for the best.
