I have a TVS-1272XU. I presume the conversation above applies to this unit as well. There generally isnt much mention of the rack mounted units. I guess they are just not as common.

The heat solution in this unit is a large passive heat sink. There is a case fan right next to it, which pulls a significant amount of air through it. I am wondering if I can go with a i7-8700k (95W Thermal Spec), compared to the 65W spec of the stock i3-8100. Also, since 9th generation is also a Coffee Lake core, has anyone tried any of those CPUs? However, you lose HT with the i7-9700k. Just checking my options.

BTW, has QNAP stated anything about warranty violations and CPU upgrades?

qnap even refuses support with non qnap ram..so you can be sure that support will be refused with a non default cpu

I wouldnt exceed target tdp by a lot..and that seems like a big jump...no idea if microcode would even be compatible..no other chance but to try

glad to hear my googling worked!
Sorry for rehashing this, but when just one or two cores are stressed does it maintain the turboboost frequency or does it immediately drop to 2400
