Correct. If the Qnap comes out of the box with an HDMI port, no Nvidia QTS.

I know that I am picking on Spikemixture, but I find his post amusing. "I spent all this money for this QNAP - how come it can't do anything I want with any hardware that I want !!!!".
Maybe you should Apple why they refuse to cooperate with NVidia on getting their GPU cards to work with any Apple computer. Maybe you should ask why macOS 10.15 will not run on countless older
Apple products.

From my view, the QNAP is such an amazing low priced value, compared to anything else on the market (ok - Synology too) - that for people to complain about it's limitations - especially on lower priced
models - well, it's just kind of funny to me, when every other company has targeted to rip off all their customers.

OK my fault for not asking more questions and too late to cancel the order for the Nvidia card.
I try to make my questions as simple as possible but very rarely do I get a simple answer - if at all.
So I now have a AMD card in my 1282 that does nothing and a Nvidia card on it's way that apparently also does nothing.

Both work for VS GPU passthrough. I THINK (don’t recall 100%) that the NVidia may also work for CS, but not positive. I think that may have been added to the x82 family somewhat recently.

spikemixture wrote: Mon Jul 29, 2019 1:55 pm Do you use your added graphics card for Virtualization and then what?
Or video transcoding, coding/remuxing/converting, HD Station?

I have just put an AMD graphics card in my TVS-1282.

I do some re-coding/converting of media in a win10 VM and was hoping the card would take some of the load off the CPU.

I have read the instructions and Qnap sees the Card and Virtualization Station sees it.

But Once I add the card via the PCIe option I get a VNC Authentication box pop up can go no futher as I have not set VNC password.

The instructions show the setting up of VNC screen as a process once in win10 after being instructed to add the card!
Have reversed the process and adding VNC and creating a password - then the card but after signing in I get black screen only.
Did you check QNAP's compatibility page?

https://www.qnap.com/en/compatibility/? ... ategory=25

For your NAS model, there is only one recommended graphics card and it only can do HD Station / Linux Station / Hardware Transcoding (Virtualization Station is not mentioned)

However, your NAS does appear here, under "TVS-x82": https://www.qnap.com/en/how-to/faq/arti ... on-station

Probably best idea is to contact QNAP.

I am not sure what page you arrived at as what I see are 15+ cards compatible with my tvs-1282. And yes I have been there a dozen times before.

What does the post titled "How do you use a Graphics Card?" that has over 2000 views mean?
Gotta think it is a topic of fairly high interest.
Why is there only me (asking) and the usual first responders.
Maybe 2000+ don't have a graphics card but might/will get one if they can find out the benefits?

Allegedly Qnap employers don't drop in much (I am not so sure) but if they did a topic like this showing plenty of interest should have the marketing people thinking!!

Firstly Bob. Where did I say anything about spending "all this money" and I have not complained about it "can't doing anything"

This topic is How do YOU use a Graphics card?

Almost 4000 views later apparently no one uses a graphics card but a helluva lot want to know how to use one!!

BTW I don't mind be 'picked on" if we are on the same topic ! :P

Overview -
you setup a VM. You now have Window 10 running in the QNAP, as a virtual machine. You install the Nvidia GPU.

Sorry for not giving a direct answer

Just my experience

If you like to prevent a black screen in remote desktop or VNC after you activated the GPU or you changed the resolution in VS use something like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... UTF8&psc=1

Thats a known problem not only for VM's. If there is no active Display on the adapter the screeen went black because the graphics card dont know which resolution is possible to use.
With one of this EDID emulators there is always a standard resolution reportet.
