RAM for Qnap 251B

Post by John Kri »

Hi Guys

Sorry if this is topic is old and repost but I couldn't find any info on this board.

I just got a new Qnap TS 251B with 2G RAM, I would like to upgrade to 8G and therefore need 2x4G RAM modules, any advice on what to buy?

Thanks in advance

If there are not definitive search results on the forums from other users, you need to identify the RAM module you have at present. then match the spec with a good vendor.

here is a breakdown review that mentions what ram they had at time of review.

https://aphnetworks.com/reviews/qnap-ts-251b/3
Our NAS came with 1x4GB of ADATA DDR3L-1866 double sided SODIMM using Micron D9SGQ ICs.
if yours is the same, then check out compatible ram modules for that spec. Crucial are fairly well made and usually come with a lifetime guarantee and do most SODIMMs, but you will need to search yourself or you buy the hyper expensive QNAP ram from the qnap store https://shop.qnap.com/index.php?route=p ... uct_id=220.

However if you source a similar spec SODIMM from say amazon, you are at least able return the ram if its not compatible.
Regards Simon
